Developmental Age Groups
INFANTS
3 months to approximately 15 months*
Child-to-caregiver ratio: 4:1
The months of infancy are precious to parents and the Center’s staff alike. Our infant program provides a warm, nurturing environment for your baby. Light, color, and music fill our soothing, safe infant rooms. Our caregivers take pride in understanding what makes your baby special, monitoring and responding to each infant’s individual and changing needs.
The Center provides infant formula. You'll supply diapers, wipes, and any additional food you would like us to incorporate into your baby’s feeding regimen.
Toddlers
Young Toddlers: 12 months to 24 months*
Child-to-teacher ratio: 5:1
Older Toddlers: 24 months to 36 months*
Child-to-teacher ratio: 6:1
Toddlerhood is a time of joy, wonder, and blossoming independence. Our toddler curriculum stimulates the motor and cognitive skills that emerge during this stage of childhood. Daily activities are tailored to meet the developing needs and interests of this active age group. Self-help skills and early learning are key elements of each toddler's day.
Preschoolers
3 years to 5 years
Child-to-teacher ratio: 10:1
The preschool years are a time of discovery and imagination. Our preschool curriculum focuses on socialization, creative development, and reading- and math-readiness. Art projects, dress-up days, and musical instruments are all part of the fun, with classroom computers proving especially popular. Penn Children's Center “graduates” are well prepared for kindergarten.
*NOTE ON AGE GROUPINGS:
The PCC team will work with you to determine the correct age grouping for children on the cusp of aging up into the next cohort. Age-ups from one developmental group to the next typically occur quarterly, so that children of the same age will travel together from infant to toddler to preschool rooms. Parent-teacher conferences are held before age-ups to ensure that families are supported as their child progresses.
